2019 RACE RULES
Time & Date
-----------
During a season we race each sunday at 18:00 hours (6 p.m.). The actual dates and tracks will be announced in the forum's Online Races / Race Schedule section.
The starting time for all events will be displayed in GMT+1 which is the time zone of West Europe. If you are unsure what time it is in the GMT+1 time zone, please see the GMT+1 clock over at greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/gmt-plus-1/
Drivers
-------
Everyone are welcome to join the championship. You can participate in as many or few events as you like. All you need is a PC computer and a cheap steering wheel and pedals (can typically be purchased second-hand for about $50-$100). No other costs are involved. The game and championship is completely free.
Cars
----
You can only use the cars available at www.viper-racing.com/downloads.htm with the file names starting with ACR-. You must use the latest/current version of the ACR- .car-files and the .car-files must not be altered.
Behaviour on the Track
----------------------
You are not allowed to shortcut over non-tarmac areas with more than two tires in an attempt to shorten your laptime. An exception can be made when you are able to save a drift DESPITE having to drift over a non-tarmac area.
Bumping into others excessively or with the intention of personal gain will result in a warning. Two warnings lead to disqualification.
Penalty-points might be given after the race finish to drivers that have caused an accident because of carelessness.
You are allowed to defend your position, but you must make room if a faster driver lines up beside you. Blocking another driver by zig-zagging is not allowed.
You are allowed to use the reset-button at any time, for example if your car gets damaged.
Game Settings
-------------
All races are driven in Intermediate Mode with Damage OFF.
The only driving aids that are allowed are automatic clutch and ABS.
The use of "pave the world" and "horn balls" is forbidden.
Qualifying
----------
Before the race starts there will be 3 laps of qualifying. The fastest lap-time (lap 2 or lap3) of each driver will be used to determine the start order for the race. The first qualifying lap time should be ignored.
A driver that misses the Qualify will have to start the race in last position. If more than one driver is late the start order will be based on the time they showed up.
The Race
--------
Each race will consist of two parts, each lasting 5 laps. The start order of the first part will be based on the qualifying results, with the driver with the fastest qualifying lap starting in first position. The start order of the second part will be reversed, with the winner of the first part starting in last position.
Points System
-------------
Each lap you finish will give you points based on your position and the number of people that started the race. If 5 people started the race then 1st position will give you 5 points, 2nd position 4 points etc. If 8 people started the race then 1st position will give you 8 points, 2nd position 7 points etc.
For each lap you will also get points based on your longest consecutive drift during that lap. For a drift lasting 7 corners you will get 7 points. For a drift lasting 6 corners you will get 6 points etc. A drift lasting only 1 lap till not give you any points.
In order for a drift combination to be valid, the car must be held in a continuous drift while continuously counter steering. The steering wheel must never be turned in the same direction as the corner and the transition between two corners must be instant. This means you are not allowed to do add an extra drift in-between two corners. In other words; a drift through two consecutive right-corners must be accomplished by holding the car in a continuous left-slide, keeping the front wheels pointing to the left. This will still count as two successful drifts, giving you two points instead of only one.
After each race, you must save a replay file and send it in by e-mail. It will then be reviewed so that the drift points can be calculated correctly. Failing to provide a replay file results in a DNF (0 points) for that race.
A driver unable to finish the race, for any reason including disconnection, will be given a DNF (0 points).
An exception to the above rule is if a driver is disconnected in the grid at the very beginning of a qualify or race. Then the session must be restarted. Hold the horn to signal to others that another driver has been disconnected.
Trophies
--------
At the end of the season, the one scoring the highest total of drift points will be awarded the Drift Master trophy. The one scoring the highest race points will be awarded the Track Expert trophy. The one scoring the highest combined drift and race points will be awarded the World Champion trophy. The trophies are actual trophies that will be sent to you, anywhere in the world, free of charge.
